Romans
- Wall+3% per level
- Merchantcarries 500 × the world speed, speed 16
- Special buildingHorse Drinking Trough
The Romans are the most balanced tribe: strong in attack and in defence, with the strongest wall in the game. Their big advantage – they build two things at once.
Strengths
- Double building: two construction jobs at the same time – two buildings, two fields, or a field and a building. Their villages grow faster than any other tribe's.
- City Wall: +3% defence per level – the most in the game (together with the Egyptians).
- Horse Drinking Trough (Romans only): cavalry trains 1% faster per level, and from levels 10, 15 and 20 the cavalry eats one crop less (Equites Legati, Equites Imperatoris and Equites Caesaris).
Special units
- Praetorian – excellent infantry defence against infantry (65).
- Imperian – strong attacking infantry (70), the best value for attack.
- Equites Imperatoris – fast cavalry (14) that carries 100: great for raiding.
- Equites Caesaris – Rome's heavy cavalry: 180 attack, and good defence too.
Weaknesses
- Expensive units that take long to train.
- Merchants carry little (500).
Who it suits
Players who want to grow fast, build strong villages and play both attack and defence. A good choice for beginners too.
The units
The game's own numbers, at speed x1. Speed – tiles per hour; upkeep – crop per hour.
