The Gauls are the defensive, fast tribe: hard to raid, and their cavalry and merchants are the fastest in the game.

Strengths

  • Double cranny: the Gauls' cranny hides twice as many resources.
  • Trapper (Gauls only): traps that catch soldiers who attack the village.
  • Fast merchants: speed 24 – the fastest in the game – carrying 750.
  • Phalanx: cheap, good defence against both infantry and cavalry.

Special units

  • Phalanx – cheap, balanced defensive infantry.
  • Theutates Thunder – the fastest cavalry in the game (19), great for raiding far away.
  • Druidrider – cavalry defence against infantry (115).
  • Haeduan – attacking cavalry that also defends very well against cavalry (165).

Weaknesses

  • Lower attacking power than the Romans and the Teutons.

Who it suits

Beginners, and anyone who wants a quiet economy, strong defence and fast raiding from a distance.
